Do you remember the announcement of the Corolla Furia Concept that was made by Toyota at the 2013 Detroit Auto show? You should remember, because it was just a few months ago. With the launch of the new 2014 Toyota Corolla the car enters into the eleventh generation with updated features and specifications. The Corolla is the very popular lineup of the Toyota that has been there in the market for 47 years and is a bit younger than the two iconic models of the other brands, Ford Mustang (49 years) and the Porsche 911 (50 years). Though, the Toyota Corolla has not the cachet of these high end sports cars however, it is one of the best and even the top choice of people searching for a compact family cars. This is one of the most successful lineups of the Toyota and according to the brand over 40 million Corollas are sold to date.

Exterior and Interior

The 2014 Toyota Corolla is the latest version of the Corolla and so you can expect that the car will feature almost everything upgraded and innovative. The wheelbase and the length of the new version are increased by four inches with tight overhangs and a bit lower and wider that make the new compact sedan look leaner and elastic. The front of the car is complemented with a new lower grille, stylish angular LED headlamps, wraparound taillights and an optional rear spoiler is offered to those who want to add a bit sportier look and feel to the new 2014 Toyota Corolla. The 2014 Toyota Corolla will be the first model in the segment with standard LED headlamps.
The cabin of the 2014 Toyota Corolla is well equipped and well built and because of the increase in the length and wheelbase the interior is now more roomy and comfortable. The cabin of the new Toyota Corolla also gets some new and stylish design theme with a wider dash that make the car looks like a classic American car with an Asian theme. The instrument panel will now feature multi information display that shows current fuel consumption, odometer, average fuel consumption, trip odometer, average speed and cruising distance. The 2014 Toyota Corolla will come in four trims, the L, LE, LE Eco model and the S. The interior of the S trim also adds a 3.5 inch TFT display.

Under the Hood

The 2014 Toyota Corolla offers two engine choices, a 1.8 liter all-aluminum four cylinder engine that is the base engine and produces 132 horsepower and 128 lb ft of torque. The L, LE and S trim are powered by the base 1.8 liter engine. For the maximum fuel efficiency, the Toyota offered a 1.8 liter four cylinder engine featuring Valvematic for the LE Eco trim produces 140 horsepower and the front wheel drive is standard.

The 2014 Toyota Corolla gets either a six speed manual transmission or an optional four speed automatic transmission whereas the L, LE and LE models get a CVT with 7 simulated gear ratios and the S models get paddle shifters. The car sprints out from 0-60 mph in an estimated 9.0 seconds.

Safety Features

The new 2014 Toyota Corolla gets eight standard airbags, Toyota’s Smart Stop Technology and Toyota’s Star Safety system that features traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, stability control, antilock braking system and brake assist.

Pricing and Availability

We won’t get the new 2014 Toyota Corolla very soon and so the official price and sale date is not announced however, we can expect $16,230 as starting price.

Hyundai Elantra, Mazda Mazda3 and Honda Civic are key rivals of the Toyota Corolla.

The eleventh generation new 2014 Toyota Corolla is a good addition to the segment with lots of upgraded features and improved interior equipments and cabin room.
