New 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S mark the 40th anniversary of 911. It sure is hard to believe the long way 911 has come when it was introduced 50 years ago. Exterior and interiors
What makes the new generation 911 Turbo characteristic is the lavishly wide rear body panels as these new models are 1.1 inches wider. Engine and performance
Technical highlights include new turbocharged 3.8-litre 6 petrol engine and improved PDK transmission, with direct fuel injection that produces 560 hp in the S model and 520 hp in the 911 Turbo. The new joint thermal management system for the PDK transmission and turbo engine work on making real world improvements in fuel economy. Porsche is the only carmaker that presents 2 turbochargers with adjustable turbine geometry on a gasoline engine and the 7 speed dual clutch transmission transfers the power to the drivetrain. The turbochargers are much more powerful and yet higher fuel-effective as compared to the predecessors. The newly-developed 4 wheel-drive system supports an electronically activated clutch. There is an improvement in the fuel consumption for up to 16 per cent and both models offer 29.1mpg. One can reach 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds.
New Porsche 911 is scores high on the safety features. The stability control system, Ceramic Composite Brakes, Airbags, make the occupants feel very safe in the car.
