The thing about today’s cars is that there is a greater emphasis on greener motoring. It’s no secret that car engines produce a lot of CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions. As the world’s population grows, so too does the amount of cars, trucks and other vehicles on the road.

Older vehicles tend to have motors that pump out a lot of those nasty CO2 emissions. Many of the world’s governments and the auto industry have developed cleaner-burning engines. Strict emissions laws also mean that car makers cannot recycle old engine designs and use them in new cars.

Ford is one such car manufacturer that is making waves in the greener motoring industry. Their range of EcoBoost engines is designed to offer similar or better power than their predecessors. But what’s interesting is that they produce far fewer CO2 emissions than the outgoing motors they replace.

The 1.0-liter 12-valve unit in particular is one of the most popular engine choices used in a wide range of models. For instance, you will find it in the Ford Fiesta, amongst others. So, why is this small motor that’s big on features ruling the world?

It’s won International Engine of the Year

The award is one that gets offered to companies that produce the best engine innovations. Ford have won this coveted award for the past three years now, and the motor that took the top spot is the 1.0-liter EcoBoost!

Of course, a prestigious award like that isn’t the only reason it’s such a popular powerplant in 72 countries. There are a few other reasons too!

Compact size

Ford claim that the 1.0-liter EcoBoost is so small, you could fit it in the overhead luggage compartment of a plane!

Of course, you won’t find many people doing that. But what Ford is trying to say is that it’s versatile enough to get used in a variety of different models. A lot of people buying the Ford Focus will opt for models that have the 1.0-liter EcoBoost over the older 1.6-liter motor.

It makes people want to sell their cars

Motorists are fed up of driving vehicles that pollute the environment. More people are selling their vehicles and buying newer, eco-friendly models instead. The only downside is that some folks find it hard to sell their gas-guzzlers.

But it’s not all bad news. For example, you can get help with selling your car at MerchantsAuto and other places that buy cars for cash. Or you could trade in your old car for a newer Ford model with an EcoBoost engine.

It’s fitted to ten Ford models

Apart from getting used in the Fiesta and Focus, the little 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is also fitted to eight other models, bringing the total to ten.

According to Ford, one of the features that the motor offers is how the turbocharger spins at faster speeds than those used in Formula One racing cars! It’s no secret that the faster a turbo spins, the more air gets pumped into the engine.

And, when that happens, the engine is more efficient on fuel. So, when will you be getting a Ford with an EcoBoost engine?
